We first meet her in 2183, eighteen year old Claudine Mars catches the attention of Esotera after street video showed her making a flame bloom in the shape of a claw. She was defending herself from a street attack while waiting two days on a long line to try to get in to a conference at Javitz Convention Tower on the occasion of Esotera’s first public appearance. Claudine becomes Hellclaw.
Esotera had been waiting to find someone else with a unique physiology like herself. Esotera had obtained years ago [SEE ESOTERA #1] a special case which contained a hand-wrought mask made of q-metal, a quantum-catalyzed alloy, unique because it steps down the polarity and spin rate of subatomic particles as well as their particle/wave status. It took Esotera three years to decipher a caption inscribed on the mask in code which read “destiny doesn’t make mistakes”.
Esotera found a digital file in the 2010 time capsule archived in the San Geraldo vault. After doing a deepsearch on the 600,000 terabyte archive, she returned one result, an account in the 1848 local paper in Oskaloosa, a coal mining community about an hour outside Des Moines. It basically reprinted a letter received by a pastor from the St. James church describing the discovery of a metal mask with two pointed horns. The artifact survived in a local pub as a curiosity lending itself to decades of drunken speculation, before being donated to the Pioneer Farm Museum which became the Mahaska County Historical Society in 1942. Throughout the 1950s, it puzzled high school chemistry departments and later university level researchers who examined scrapings. When the samples were sent to MIT in 1968 they described unique quantum properties and high levels of heat conductivity. Shortly after, the mask was stolen in a brazen daytime theft.
The presence of rare elements and instruments, aka making a ‘membrane’ which is essentially a portal to a decillion lines of code available of a wavelength obtainable two ways, first if the physical energy and materials are there, or secondly, if a one in a generation example comes along like Miss Mars.
Claudine had spent two years as a street urchin waiting around in sleazy NYC for any news of an Esotera appearance.
HELLCLAW’S BACKSTORY: Even before birth, Hellclaw was bombarded in-vitro as part of an undisclosed de-contamination effort seeking to keep residents of an exposed residential area enrolled in LifePlan after their water was laced with psycho-emotional suppressors. This led to a range of birth defects including one observed to resurface q-dna traits that were dormant for generations.
Aside from the occasional red head with green eyes, the traits included the return of hemophelia, cystic fibrosis and other maladies, but in the case of Claudine and her sister Sylmara, seemed to have made them extremely athletic and hyper-aware with near-total recall.
Sylmara was abducted at age 12 and soon after found dead in a skyvan that was obliterated after being scorched from the inside about 60 miles east of her home. Claudine who was then 16, entered a dark era that made her even more tightly-wound, exhibiting anolomous physical behaviors, such as glowing eyes and charred hands.
HELLCLAW AND THE MASK: In a sensory deprivation chamber lined with a complement of elemental material ultracompounds loaded into rotary carousels, Hellclaw finally dons the iron mask, a relic woven from a unique metal infused with quantum particles. As she places it on, Hellclaw is flooded with memories and visions that span not just the past, but also the future.
As Hellclaw examined the mask, Esoterra explained its composition. The alloy blended 25% tungsten for hardness and heat resistance, 15% thorium for quantum properties and strength, 20% titanium for lightweight corrosion resistance, 10% vanadium for toughness, and 5% gold for conductivity. Esotera and Dr. Leawoch revealed sub-quantum encodings within hereditary DNA, finding that the mask’s alloy, enriched with silicon carbide, linked the quantum patterns with the mask’s unique properties. This synergy bridged the ancient and the future, unlocking profound visions for the descendants.
She experiences millions of millisecond-long memory encodings in a vivid tapestry, flashes of the lives of those who wore the mask before her, their most indelibly etched memories, seared into their q-dna. She begins to create mental tabs to organize these revelations trying to make meaning. After she emerged from the chamber, Claudine was wide-eyed and took notes furiously. As the camera rolled, she recounted the vivid memories of her journey. She spoke of the barbarian sorceress, a powerful figure who wielded flame with mastery, and how that legacy lived on. She also described a Paleolithic-era clan, where an ancestor used her flameclaws to unite the tribe against a tyrannical leader.
In her debrief, Claudine connected the ancient past to her own abilities, highlighting the courage and resilience that flowed through her lineage. She noted that many other anecdotes flashed by in milliseconds, each one a piece of her heritage.
As she concluded, it was clear that these memories would guide her on her path.
The mask itself is crafted from a rare metal, its particles charged and responsive only to those who share the hereditary lineage of previous Hellclaw bearers. This unique interaction is what unlocks her ability to summon flames, drawing energy from the environment around her.
Through these experiences, Hellclaw’s powers are not merely inherited; they are awakened and honed through the mask’s intricate design. Each time she dons the mask, she taps into a deeper reservoir of power, transforming abstract potential into tangible, fiery ability.
In this way, the Hellclaw mask becomes a bridge between the ancient past and the unfolding future, allowing Hellclaw to fully embrace her legacy and her destiny.
LEAD IN TO ELEVENA 2222: The Hellclaw Trials were traumatizing for anyone born enhanced, that is not the generation who violated code. A scandal it was, for leading right back to the illegal practices dome by Elevena, presumably with the knowledge of Esotera who was not a minor at the time of the criminal activity, the initial court case over Claudine Mars aka Hellclaw being criminally reponsible for death and damage due to bio-engineered ability. Esotera discovered it in Mars and used the same mutagenetic helix codes to procreate a child on the 11th try using her “reproductive freedom” as the courts battled to decide over the control of lineage DNA or hereditary enhancement. This triggered decades of gender war, particulary in the Texas to New Mexico to Utah corridor.
As men controlled Texas, women held Utah and New Mexico was a lawless warground. The resulting conflict would make the birthrate plummet along with family sizes…meanwhile the buzzing megaprocesor plants run by the DeHubertons have been pushing for the fiscal sense of population reduction, noting the sustained losses of imposing economic subjugation and favoritism for the ruling military hardware corporation DeHuberton family. Noting the losses sustained in weaponizing drones for local police duties, going back half a century. Calculates that volume of drone weapons army costs so much, the prime economic directive would be to reduce losses for the national economy, before and after 2222.
