I’m thrilled to return to comics, with inker and co-host Kurt Brugel, weaving an imaginative world of art and writing with the production of our sci-fi comic Turbo Pit-Fighter, streamed live every Sunday at 10am EST on the Making Turbo Pit-Fighter channel. What’s different about us? We pencil and ink live in split-screen as we refine the plot, sequencing, dialog and lettering as we have fun discussing comics, art techniques and comic culture from the perspective of two art teachers. So there’s a podcast besides the comic being made.
But wait, there’s more. In 2024 we launched our new DoomMags Substack featuring free weekly installments for fans of sci-fi writing. The posts comprise a mind-map of the Turbo prequel world, a society clearly in decline as conflicts of the future intensify. Advances in quantum mechanics and “anomalous” scientific discoveries empower the resistance, led by scientists who enhance a super-squadron of females to fight high-tech fascism. The The End of The World Timeline starts with the advent of pleasure-bots reshaping human relations which leads inevitably to all-out gender war, a corporate takeover of USGOV, the rise of the Twosday cults and ultimately the unprecedented devastation of the megapocalypse!
All of this and more is covered in our weekly Making Turbo Pit-Fighter podcast, diving into the storylines and characters and sharing the experience of comic making, world-building and writing sci-fi. But read on, there’s more…
The second Turbo Teaser comic is now available, a 16 page mag format compiling the first 12 pages of Turbo Pit-Fighter with bonus material.

LOVE COMIC ART? Making comics requires inspiration, so we also regularly tape episodes of COMICS THAT INFLUENCE, where we flip-through comics, admiring the books that shape our own storytelling and bring back memories. Whether it’s a classic artist, a rare indie gem or a recent haul, we connect the rich history of comic art to our work and other influences. But wait, there’s more…

In our INDIE CREATOR EXCHANGE series, Kurt and I interview the coolest indie creators, reviewers, retailers and collaborators to learn and exchange ideas about the biz. Check out the past episodes and check back often – each week we post a new episode of either the Indie Creator Exchange, or Comics That Influence, so you can’t lose! Creators interested in appearing in an episode can fill out this form.
Thanks for the visit and finally, stay in touch on the socials!
